Applying Frozen Grand Central to Lenox Mall Experience

The frozen 5 minutes at Lenox Mall is a lot like the freeze that Improv Everywhere did at Grand Central Station in New York, only on a much smaller scale. Instead of 200+ participants, we had fewer than 20, and unfortunately, ours was not being secretly filmed. However, our experiment with freezing at the mall was inspired by this video, and encouraged by Jennifer and Mr. Warren. At the mall we applied certain skills used by this company such as freezing and un-freezing at the exact same time, holding focus consistently, staying in character, and being expressive with movement.

The unit in physical theatre that we did is also related to the freeze, because we were posing in a way that showed movement. The way in which you freeze your body makes a difference to what you are trying to communicate, because people are often still in just standing or sitting positions (while reading for example), but not frozen in the position of picking up dropped papers or running.
