It is clear from this picture that a lot happens in Times Square. Located in the heart of the city that never sleeps, it is a center for tourism, late-night entertainment, Broadway shows, and bright lights of the big city. However, Times Square hasn't always been as big as it is now. Part of what makes this area so vibrant is the diversity of Broadway plays showing around it, rooted in the American tradition of the musical.
I took this blurry, out-of-focus picture on our way to see Hair, not far away from the bright lights and action shown within it. Musicals like Hair are big profit centers in NYC, bringing tourists from not just around the country, but around the world to come see the. And these shows are therefore able to charge lots of money for tickets, especially front-row seats, adding to their profit margin. So what does this mean for New York? More money, more tourists, and more action in the theatre district. This then leads to more shows, more venues, and more more more. Will it ever end? It doesn't look like it.
